Between Friends

Between Friends - Amanda Cowen It finally happened; I did not like a story my friend liked. The horror!!!

But ok, back to the book. It was not really a bad book, I just did not like the characters. I hate vapoid friends. What’s vapoid? Yes, I know it’s a non-existing word, but it’s my word for bad friends, airheads, you know vapor in their heads!
And that was how these so called friends were. I liked Megan well enough, but who hangs out with friends who are seriously in need of some therapy. There was not one healthy relationship between them. You have the bride from hell, who made me wonder how the hell she had a steady relationship for so long. And the other girls just drank and slept around. I just could not like them. The guys were no better. And that was just the things that bothered me. But then again, you might like the drama and the vapor. Megan was a little shallow too. She knew what she was getting into and then she acted all hurt? Pfft. Sorry for me this book was a no no. Just because of the characters. BUT! The writer is great to be able to provoke such strong feelings in me. I just hope that was what she was going for.

Captured Lies

Captured Lies - Maggie Thom All the greedy things people will do for money pfft! This was a very thrilling story. I loved it from beginning to end. It has a lot of suspense and although you will get to know more things, it will not take away from the story. The only thing that bothered me was that they were not open to each other, thus creating certain situations that could’ve been avoided in my opinion. But then again, that bothers me in movies too, so I don’t think it’s necessarily something from the book. It does not take away from it.
I also liked that it wasn’t really a scenario where all was good and well when it came to be revealed. That kept it very realistic I think. I think it’s a very good read. Hope you like it too!

Saving Saffron Sweeting

Saving Saffron Sweeting - Pauline Wiles I really liked this story. Of course life isn’t that easy, but it would be nice if it could be right? I liked the way it was kind of realistic (even though she had a job and house way too easy – was that a spoiler? Sorry!), but it also brought out some of the good and nice in people. it wasn’t about some young chick but about a “seasoned” woman who had to make some hard decisions. Making some bad ones along the way. And also, love conquering and all that jazz. But not just in a jiffy, working hard for it. I like the message that it conveys. Nowadays we jump into someone else’s arms way too fast. And even though she made the wrong decision, it was never because she did not think it over. Good read and great description of England! I also liked the cover. Very festive :)

S'wanee: A Paranoid Thriller

S'wanee: A Paranoid Thriller - Don Winston review coming soon

Lifeboat - A.B. Shepherd Well this book started a little slow. But in the end it kinda explains why. It was a very interesting read though. There was a lot going on and it got a little confusing at times. But that also got explained. I really don’t know how to review this book without giving anything away, but if you are a ufo geek you will love this book. I also liked that it was situated in Australia, I like to travel when I read :)
For the rest I can say that it keeps you interested and it is kind of different. The only thing that wasn’t explained was the very first scene in the beginning. I kept wondering is that true or not? I think you might find it very interesting. It’s not written like the books I usually read, so it took a little getting used to, but it’s not boring or anything.

Tangled (The Tangled Series)

Tangled (The Tangled Series) - Emma Chase I want to thank the person who recommendes this book.

I won this book in a giveaway. I could choose whatever book I wanted, but because I have such a hard time choosing books (read: I want them all!!!!!) I gave the organizer carte blanche to give me whatever book she fancied. She so wanted to give me this book, because she read the ARC and was blown away. So I had to wait for the release date. But by then I had other reading responsibilities, so I got to reading it just now. And BOY! Am I glad with her choice! Thank you Meagan!!!

This book was so so so fun! The main character was such a playboy but he was oh so fun! I loved and adored that it was written from his point of view, you don’t see a lot of books – ok romance books – evolving with and around the man’s POV. The author did a awesome job! I laughed and I cried and I read it in one sitting. You will not be able to resist Drew’s charm, I can tell you that! But it’s not just the charms he lays on you as a playboy, he has depth, although he would like you to think otherwise. And although the book isn’t that particularly long – in pages and in time passing in the book – you do see a lot of character development there. I loved that. I for one, cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in this series. Who am I kidding, if all of Emma Chase’s books are this good, I’m going to stalk everything she writes!

Sweet Thing

Sweet Thing - Renée Carlino This is a quaint story about a girl trying to find her way after she loses her dad. I figure he means a lot to her, according to the way she acts and the hard time she has after his dead. It’s hard losing a parent. It’s even harder letting go of the things you think you need to have and need to do in your life. It’s even harder loving and trusting someone. That I get. But for the rest of it, I could not place myself in some of the drama the main character created. Now, before those of you that read the book attack me, I am not saying all of it. Some of it I understand just fine. But others? I can’t understand certain outbursts, especially if things are fine and even more so when she says something is ok, or she wants something to be a certain way and then go nitpicking on it. Maybe it’s me, but it was hard for me to see what the use was of that, other than create drama and hurt others and yourself. But it was nice to have someone who worked hard to achieve his dreams, even though sometimes I got really exasperated with him because of erratic outbursts. And it seemed a little “jumpy” to me. Trying to explain things, like “oh and he told her that sometime, when we were not watching”. It took away a little from the story imo. But all in all decent.

P.S. about the cover: I liked the first one, kind of whimsical to me, but the second one rocks!
